Embarassed to be almost three weeks late on this post, but, eh. Better late than never, right?
I made plans to stay in BackHome KL, my favorite place in all of Kuala Lumpur (no small feat, because I am shamelessly & fiercely in love with you, KL, for all your slums and wrecks and sewers and capitalist, empty temples) for the New Year. I'd been there before, in August, when Gordo ((We had met at the Rainforest World Music Festival, becoming fast friends over the three nights of the festival.)) was wrapping up his tour of Southeast Asia with a week-long internship at TELL Magazine. I didn't know many nice backpacker hostels in Kuala Lumpur, but knew of the rough areas you could find nice ones: Petaling Street ("Chinatown"), the Changkat Bukit Bintang neighborhood, etc...
